We grow a wide range of varieties, both free and controlled, the majority of which are listed below.  

Desiree

Desiree scores 5 on the waxy/floury scale and can be used for great roast potatoes and chips, creamy mash and also wedges. Desiree is also sold as a baking potato. This striking red-skinned maincrop potato, with a light yellow flesh is very widely available. This is a Main Crop variety.

Hermes

Maincrop maturity, high yields, low tuber numbers and long dormancy.High dry matter and good fry colour. Susceptible to late blight on foliage, potato cyst nematode Globodera rostochiensis and potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida . Tests show resistance to Powdery scab, potato leafroll virus, potato virus Yo and splitting.

Maris Piper

Maincrop maturity with high yields and many tubers per plant. Good resistance to gangrene ans splitting. Suitable for storage. Moderately susceptible to common scab, powdery scab, potato virus Yo, Dry rot Fusarium coeruleum , Fusarium sulphureum and slugs. Tests show this variety is susceptipble to potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida Pa2/3,1 and resistant to Globodera rostochiensis . Medium dry matter with good cooking and frying qualities.

Pentland Dell

Maincrop maturity producing high yields, long dormancy. Good resistance to mild mosaic viruses, powdery scab and slugs. Susceptible to potato cyst nematode Globodera rostochiensis , Globodera pallida and spraing. Moderately high dry matter with a tendency to disintegrate after boiling.

Banba

A very high yielding variety. Banba produces a high percentage of large long-oval tubers. Good resistance to foliage blight, common scab, drought and mechanical damage. Very good storage characteristics.

Barna

Strong robust variety suitable for diverse culinary uses including french fries. It has very good storage qualities and shows good resistance to viruses, foliage and tuber blight, common scab and blackleg.

Burren

Burren is a long oval potato with shallow eyes, good drought resistance and good storage capability. It is very high yielding and produces larger crops compared to Spunta.

Cara

Very robust variety with excellent resistance to drought, foliage and tuber blight and good resistance to common scab and viruses.  It is extremely high yielding and very uniform.  Cara is also a versatile potato suitable for a wide range of culinary uses including chipping.

Electra

Very bright large tubers with excellent appearance and free from internal defects. Electra keeps well in storage and it shows good resistance to common scab, foliage blight and gangrene in the field. It has good taste and is suitable for dishes where a firm potato is needed.

Fandango

Fandango is a very high yielding early bulking main-crop variety producing bright short oval tubers with cream skins, light yellow flesh and large percentage of ‘bakers’. FANDANGO has an excellent culinary profile especially when baked, producing particularly crispy skins ensuring that it is well suited to the retail fresh and food service sectors.

Galactica

Excellent high yielding early parti-coloured variety.  Galactica shows very good foliage and tuber blight resistance rendering it also suitable for organic production.  It is very sensitive to Metribuzin (Sencor /Sencorex) and as a result this herbicide must not be used with Galactica. It gives, however, rapid ground cover upon germination assisting in natural weed control.

Infinity

Infinity is a high yielding, early bulking maincrop variety with high dry matter and excellent fry colour suitable for crisps, chips, wedges and consumers who prefer a floury textured potato. Tubers are deep red skinned, cream fleshed, uniformly short oval/oval shape with shallow eyes and keep well in store.

Markies

Exceptional fry quality, long-term storage with low reducing sugars, good dormancy. Very low requirement for nitrogen. High tolerance to drought stress. Late foliage maturity, but, early in setting tubers. Resistance to dry rot Fusarium coeruleum , late blight on tubers, blackleg, Bruising, splitting. Resistant to potato virus Yo and potato cyst nematode Globodera rostochiensis Ro1 and susceptible to Globodera pallida Pa2/3,1.

Nectar

Nectar produces high numbers of tubers with very smooth skin and very suitable for pre-packing.  It has good resistance to tuber blight, gangrene and common scab while also keeping well in storage.  It is a potato suitable for stews and other dishes where a firm potato is required.

Rooster

An excellent all-round potato combining beautiful taste with good yields.  Rooster produces excellent French fries and it is perfect for mashing and roasting.  As a special variety, careful seed handling is necessary for optimal crop results.

Shannon

Slaney

Very high yielding variety.  It produces a very vigorous canopy and abundant flowers.  Slaney is a very efficient nutrient user allowing less fertiliser applications. It eats well, being good for boiling, steaming, baking and chipping.
